He's not dead,
He's not dead.
He's just coming to live with us,
so we don't have to share him anymore.
- Jane St. Clair

I'm with Jane, Spender will live on with us in fanfic.  Besides, I'm *convinced* Krycek found Jeff and will nurse him back to health so they can get that cancerous SOB together.  Whether CC deigns to show us that part or not, *I* know what happened.

- phillboyd

Jeffrey Spender went out a hero.  Given proof of something he'd always disbelieved, he accepts it as real, admits he was wrong, takes responsibility for his part in it, and tries so hard to change things for the better.  When everyone else is giving up or covering their asses, he's fighting for the truth and the people he loves.  He tries to do the right thing, even when it seems hopeless.  And when Daddy shows up in his office with the final betrayal, our Spender, faced with nowhere to run, just looks at that gun and him with such contempt...  It's just like this series to kill off a character once he's truly found himself.  But Spender will live on in fanfic...

- Viridian5

Dear Jeff:

I knew all along you'd turn out to be one of the good guys. Of course, I was hoping you'd be able to enjoy the role for a little more than 30 seconds. At least you 'died' a redeemed man.

Hope the inevitable Spender/Krycek slash stories don't make you spin too much.

With respect,

- Jamie

Jeffery, you've left us for now, but, like Pendrall, you shall live forever in fanfic, where you truly can be your own great man.  I'm proud that you faced down your fears and your father at the end, and I'm sorry that at first I found you as contemptible as Diana Fowley.
R.I.P.

- Alli
Jeffy may have been sidetracked once or twice
But he always tried to do the right thing
He always was, and will be, a good man.

Gonna miss that cute lusty ferret!

Still weepy,
- Woodinat
Jeff, you're not going to die. You are not, you could not!
Hang in there, stay with us.  Do not leave us all here!!
- alex

Jeffrey Spender, whom I loved to hate, suddenly became one character without whom I cannot imagine the XF universe. A year ago, we were introduced to a stubborn boy who transformed into a great man, one whose presence will haunt the series for the rest of the seasons. Here is hoping that he will be resurrected - and even if he isn't, he will live on in our imaginations.

Anna Otto -
relieved of blindness when it came to Jeffrey Spender.

We'll always love you, Jeffrey.  Although you may have lived as a weasel, you died a great man.   Hopefully, Chris Carter in his infinite mercy will choose to resurrect you, the sweet agent whom I have grown to love.  And yes, I am in denial.

- Emmeline

O! Agent Spender,
your shifting allegiances
leave me conflicted.

As a villain, you're
not even rodent-worthy;
you pale to Krycek.

O! weasel, ferret--
skinny, scrawny-ass whiner,
so mean to Mulder

Squeaky-voiced weenie,
pick on someone your own size!
Oh, wait, Mulder is.

Megan intervenes,
draws compassion from my heart.
I resist; she shows:

Tough to be young Jeff:
Father's a conspirisist;
mom's on mothership.

Spender betrays dad.
He's a good guy after all!
Protects the mother.

C.G.M. Spender
Does you in for good, I fear.
So much for bonding.

On his way back in
will Mulder trip over you
with too-small shoes?

You, I loved to hate.
I never thought I'd miss you!
RIP Spender

- cynthia
Weasel, snotty kid
Denier of all you've seen
I hated you so

Dance with the devil
But you don't know the steps
Watch where you point that

Betrayer betrayed
With one shot you have become
Your own great man

Goodbye, Jeffrey.
I'll miss you.
- Sarah

"this isn't really happening...", this isn't really happening...", this isn't really happening..."

Bring BACK!  Bring BACK!  Oh bring back my Spender to me-e-e-E, to me-e-e-E!

We can't call him 'weasel boy' anymore!  He redeemed himself in the end!
(IF . . . it really is the end!)

- Jenifer Young

oh, Why?   Why Jeffrey Spender?  I wasn't the only one who cried, I know that. But, Jeffrey Spender went out a hero.  We all know that.  And, I've agreed to Jane's philosophy: Spender's going to live with all of us now.  We all love him for who he was-- and still is.  We'll take good care of him.  That I can be sure of.

Goodbye, Jeff....

Love and many long - stemmed black roses,

- Judith Riley O'Brien

WAAAAAAAUUUGGGGHHHH!!
I can't believe it. Just when I had been converted from Spender-basher to Spender-liker, they kill him off. He used to be an annoying nark, but in the recent two-parter, I saw a new and welcome side to Weaselboy. And on top of that, Fowly -horrid, pious, "Why-Foxy-you-know-I'm-on-your-side-cupcake" Fowly - lives.
YYYYYAAAAYYYHHHHHGGGHHHHHH!!!

RIP, Spendy.

- Beeb Ashcroft

His Name was Jeffery, and In love
I send him good will to heaven above
but when i saw that ugly man, who had
  to pull the gun
I said to my self and out loud, Jeffery better run
But to be a coward like his father, is not
to please Mulder,
His pride was something  he could shoulder
I loved the man, The special Agent
I hope CSM dies, From his own Contaigment

I love you Jeffery and I am in Denial TOO! I LOVE YOU!

- Eve

Oh, Jeff. I so often dreamed of a better life for you and with you. Now your beautiful young soul has been snatched away for the purpose of one man's selfish plans. But I will always see you...you are too loved to be gone forever.

- Nicole, who misses you dearly, dear.

Oh, my poor misguided Jeffrey. I have stood by you since the beginning. Despite an undaunting loyalty to Mulder, I have always held  a soft spot for the tall, handsome, lanky G-man...the other one. I know you're not really gone, I am happy in my illogical universe where you and Krycek will always live happily. You were so brave, standing defiant in the face of evil, like the great man you always were and always will be. May flights of angels wing you to your rest. With a special love that's yours alone, always,

- Seana.
Spend1.jpg (38225 bytes) Jeffrey Spender, a hero in disguise.   May we all remember that he became his 'own great man' and that in The X-Files universe, no one really dies.

- Julie Cantrell

i must admit, you were the worst of the worst
you had no backbone, let your father order and slap you to do his bidding. he tells you you are no fox. i thought you a weasel too. you are real. not a superhero but a real-person hero like i could only hope to be. I'm sorry for misunderstanding, and trusting
the initial chris carter messages. that is why, now, i still trust no one. you said you trusted implicitly, but take his advice, as we all have. you will live. we want to believe. and, after
all, are we not the soul of the xfiles?

- rana128

"It was the captain who suggested the empty sarcophagus for Spender. They had found an ancient Martian tomb yard.  They put Spender into a silver case with waxes and wines which were ten thousand years old, his hands folded on his chest.  The last they saw of him was his peaceful face. "They stood a moment in the ancient vault.  'I think it would be a good idea for you to think of Spender from time to time,' said the captain." [-Ray Bradbury, The Martian Chronicles]  Without Jeff Spender, we wouldn't have anyone reminding Scully not to believe so easily.  We would have no proper name to call CSM.  We wouldn't know about the consortium or the aliens or the truth.  And I wouldn't know what a ferret was, let alone that they are cute.   Let it be said again, he was his own great man.

- Megan
He will be resurrected to see the light,
And he will smote the eyes of Cancer Man out
- DarkAngel

I didn't see him die...therefore, for me, he lives.  When Alex finds him, he'll fix him and then, just look out CSM! Jeff Spender was a tragic figure...lied to and isolated, he crawled down a long tunnel of doubts and fears to arrive at the truth.  If he died just as he reached his potential to learn happiness for the first time it would be just too much to bear, so I say "live on, Jeff."  You deserve a little happiness for a change.

- Sue aka Dr. Ruthless
Jeff, I'm sorry you had to bite it before we got to see more of that cute new haircut.  R.I.P. - sslider

Jeffy,
Come home to the basement. Mulder and Scully need you there. You've only just begun to understand what it means to seek the Truth! Do not make us take this journey without you! There is so much for you to live for. You need to be here to bring your father to justice and help Mulder and Scully bring his work crashing down around him.

Your mother would want you to do this.
Do it for her... Do it for us...
Be your own great man!

- Veronica
Ah, geez. What can I say? I feel like a total idiot. I never realized how important Spender was to the show until it was too late. This is going to suck without him. Even if he isn't dead, it will take a few
weeks for him to be back :-(
- Bounty Huntress

Jeff,

I know you are frolicking happily with the all-mighty naked dancing llama now, but we need you here with us! Forsake your peanut-spitting eternity and be with us, the llama will live on in your heart!!

               You are your own man,

P.S. I loved to hate you in the beginning, but you showed the naysayers!!!

P.P.S. Ryan Gero is a love god!!!!!

- Crystal and Katie

Sigh.   I always saw you for what you were Jeffrey: a misunderstood, sad, and confused person. I liked you from the start despite the venom spewed your way.  It pains me that you were not able to get one ounce of happiness out of this life..YOU DESERVED BETTER..sigh.  Goodbye..I will miss you!!  Damm that CSM..I hope after Marita nurses you back to health you burn him at the stake!!!!  Okay so I'm in denial<g>

- Lin

Why did he have to leave us? I fell in love with Agent Spender this
season, but now he's (well maybe) dead. I really thought he was going to live, he died right at the end! Chris Owens did an amazing and extraordinary job of playing Agent Spender. Hopefully, he will return as a young Cigarette-Smoking Man. Please be alive!

- Rosebud

Ah, Jeffrey, we hardly knew ye...
Please don't be dead.

- Nancy

From the first moment Jeffrey Spender appeared onscreen, Chris Carter intended for us not to like him.  But in spite of all CC's attempts, we did.  And now that we were just learning more about him, he was ripped away from us, only to live on in our memories.   When it came to the ultimate crisis, Spender acted in the best interests of humanity, not Mulder.  And for that, he paid with the ultimate price.

Resurgam

- Shael
It's a shame that such a nice guy would be ripped from the show just as we began to like him.  Rest In Peace, Jeffery.  Too bad you were expendable, in CC's eyes. - Wedge

I wish that someone had had the decency to keep a good man like you on the show-- You'd redeemed yourself and stood up to your father. Two-faced you might have been for a while but what a way to go--  If you really did die, though I'm hoping the opposite, I want you to know that you'll always have a second chance at being your own good man with viewers like us.... We'll miss you.

- Emily

      Good bye sweet child,
today I'm in black for you.
      No words can express my
      sorrow, only this silence.....................

- Carola1

PS:maybe after all ...esto no es  "adiós",sino "hasta pronto"...

We have all had to make sacrifices and yours is your life, although it does not make it any sweeter, I know yours has not been in vain. The journey has grown darker, and for you has not been that long, it makes my hart grow colder knowing that my faith has been shaken again. I will continue through this maze of lies knowing you are at some better place.

- Jessica
Jeffrey Spender, my defender
A dream in a twisted blender
When I watched him enter
It couldn't have been better
Than my sweet sweet heart, Jeffrey Spender

BRING BACK OUR DEFENDER! (yes, I try to be a poet)
- KAT

I don't think your dead. The truth be told.....never saw the body fall. I don't think even the CSM would kill his own son no matter how he disappointed him. So until we see you again........keep up the good work

- Pam

How far we've all come since the beginning.  Since your introduction, weaselboy, you especially have really come into your own.  You went from prick to prince in the course of two episodes.  Little ferret, I'm sorry your dad doesn't love you.   Still, at least you got to see the light before you were shot, and you would have gone straight to hell anyway if you continued letting daddy run your life.  I doubt you are really dead, but who knows.  That damnable CC has way too much control here.   I hope you return in good health.  I want you to know that I care about you.   You make a great good guy, and if you're dead, well, it was a highly noble death.   Of course, Mulder and Krycek are still my favorites, and I have to confess a deep love for your dad, whom everyone seems to hate these days...but you will always be our cute, lovable, morally sound! and honorable little ferret.  Even if (sniffle) you don't come back to us.

Love,

- Ellius

Jeff-

"Gray socks and black shoes, black hair and eyes so true,
A smile like a cool wind blowing through lips that kiss like a fool,
These are the memories I have of you,
No, these are the gifts I took from you,
Your skin is so close to mine that it seems to know my name,
And your laugh - well, let's just say,
Something wicked this way came,
And in this old hotel my heart pounds like a drum,
It beats with the rhythm of missing you,
This is the rhythm of missing you."

(from "Blind Man" by Paul Gross and David Keeley)

We're hoping that you pull a CSM and show up writing letters in a
cabin in Canada next year! Until then, we'll miss you -

- Amatia and the AlexWear Brigade

The fox and the rat live, and the weasel died! Life's not fair! Poor Spender.... But you're somewhere better now (read:  far away from that evil witch DIANA FOWLEY!!!!) Hey, Jeff, when you get where you're going, tell Mr. X and Agent  Pendrell hi for us...
We love you!  May your soul be at peace with your mother's...
(sniff, sniff.....I have to go cry now.....)

- Domnique
Whiny with our heroes,
Obedient to family,
Lazy with the X-Files
Couldn't keep Diana in line
But in the end, was decent and lovable.

SPENDER LIVES!

Keep the faith, all.
- Sunny
He hasn't died... no! And I used to think I was the only X-Phile in the world  who actually - *gasp!* - liked him... ;o) CC should definitely bring him back.  But as Ms. Covarrubias kindly pointed out, "not everything dies, Mr. Mulder." However, for now, RIP, Jeff. We'll miss you.

PS. Please make another appearance and prove you're not dead. For my sake.
PPS. This is a nice site!
- Kathryn
Here's my message for the lil' guy:

He was a lost soul
Mislead by them all
Not understanding
The larger role that
He was a part of
Carrying out dirty deeds
And covering the truth
We forgive you
We forgive you
- jo moore
Dear Jeffrey,
You're not dead, you'll never be, as I keep you alive deep within my heart
Love U always,
- Salome, From Argentina

After I thought my heart belonged to Krycek, you, Spender, came along and proved me wrong. But, as all we Philes know, "Not everything dies." You'll always be with us, Jeffrey, in fanfic and beyond. Now to be cliché: "Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
:)

-  Megan

Dear Jeffrey,

To quote Melissa, "we categorically deny" that you were "anywhere near the bullet after it left the gun."  Resurrection seems to run in the family--I pray that, in this one thing, you'll follow in your father's footsteps.

Thank you for justifying my faith in the end--I knew there was a reason I never hated you.

Take care and come back to us soon; we miss you.

Love,

- JJ

I always liked Spender.  He was a goodie-goodie, but he was a great character.  Don't know what all this crap is about "love to hate."  The guy I love to hate on X-Files is Skinner, who is the stereotypical spineless bureaucrat.  You know "I would help you if I could, but it wouldn't help and I'd get in trouble with my superiors" and stuff like that.  Yep, I HATE that guy.  Well anyway, I hope Spender comes back. Until then, good ol' Chris can play monster roles on X-Files.  Besides, its only FOX's SECOND best show, next to the Simpsons.  If he ever comes back, I wanna see him nail that friggin Cigarette Smoking father of his to the wall!!!

- Atres

"The world's battlefields have been in the heart chiefly; more heroism has been displayed in the household and the closet than on the most memorable battlefields of history."   -Henry Ward Beecher

Agent Spender was a hero for standing up for what he believed in and for facing his father, and was one of the bravest men in the X-Files universe. Wir vermissen Sie, Jeffery, but you are alive in our hearts.

- Alison
I just wanted to come by, pout, whine, cry, throw a tantrum. *thinks on it*

*pouts, cries, whines petulantly, throws a tantrum*

*sniffs*

bye Spender. You'll always be my favorite weasel at heart.

*chokes, sobs*

I made this graphics set in honor of Spender. Not anything great, but functional for any devoted x-phile. Anyone who wants me to personalize the set for them need only email me at Trar@wizard.com.

Into the morass of guilt
a true innocent came
Brave and true, he got wrapped up in
A patchwork quilt
Of a traitors game
Too late he saw the truth
Too late to save his own skin

But he didn't give in to his fears
In all of his too-few years.

So long,
- Emily

Good night
My love
To evry hour
In evry day

Good night
Always
To all that's pure
That's in your heart

"Good night sweet Jeffrey
And the flights of angels
Sing thee to thy rest"
